Dear NAGDCA Industry Members,

Last month, I wrote to let you know that we were planning to make changes to the Industry Committee to create a better and more sustainable structure for industry participation in NAGDCA. Today, I am pleased to announce that the Executive Board has approved a new charter for the committee. The new structure creates additional opportunities for industry members to serve on the committee, including new at-large positions that are now open for applications.

A new structure:

  1. Three members will serve as committee officers. Officers will serve three consecutive one-year terms, with the Vice President and President years including a seat on the Executive Board. This representation on the Board remains the same. Your current officers, as previously elected to the committee, are Paul Nacario, President (Creative Planning), Brian Merrick, Vice President (Voya Financial), and Ed Malone, Secretary (Nationwide).
  2. We are broadening the committee with members-at-large. These positions will be appointed on one-year terms, and may be reappointed for up to four consecutive terms.

A new process:

  1. Members-at-large will be appointed. Industry members will submit an application for at-large positions in the exact same way they would apply for any other NAGDCA committee. The final roster of at-large positions will be selected using the same process as other committees.
  2. Officer positions will continue to be elected. Industry Committee members-at-large may run to be an officer. Those interested in running for Secretary will submit a nomination in the summer as they have in the past, and each company will still have one vote. As in previous years, one officer position will be elected each year. The elected officer will then automatically progress through three consecutive one-year terms as Secretary, Vice President (Board Observer), and President (voting Board member).

  1. People who are committed to improving the industry.
  2. People who want to help NAGDCA move forward at the strategic level.
  3. People who bring a broad range of industry perspectives.
  4. People who are willing to work with everyone in the industry – competitors, partners, and everyone in between.
