What is NAGDCA?
Founded in 1980, the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA) is the premier professional organization of public employer-sponsored deferred compensation and defined contribution plan administrators. NAGDCA’s mission is to support plan sponsors and service providers of government-sponsored deferred compensation and defined contribution retirement plans in creating successful retirement security outcomes for their plan participants.
NAGDCA governmental members oversee plans for participants from 64 state and territorial government entities and 159 local government entities*, including counties, cities, public safety agencies, school districts and utilities. NAGDCA’s members administer governmental deferred compensation and defined contribution plans, including Section 457(b), 401(k), 401(a), and 403(b) plans (“DC Plans”), which provide for employee and employer contributions.
The association provides a forum for working together to improve DC Plan operations and outcomes by sharing information on investments, marketing, administration, and the federal laws and regulations governing DC Plans. NAGDCA is committed to fostering an inclusive community. We value and encourage diverse perspectives and participation throughout all our activities and in the business of the association.

Each Executive Board member brings a unique skill set and decades of retirement industry experience to their role in determining the strategic priorities of the organization.
Our Strategic Plan
NAGDCA’s vision is to develop a network of well-informed defined contribution retirement plan sponsors and industry professionals working together to provide America’s public sector workers with a secure financial future. With that goal as the focus, our Executive Board and staff meet yearly to develop a comprehensive strategic plan.
Volunteer committees are an integral part of NAGDCA’s success. Whether planning the NAGDCA Annual Conference, refining the Benchmarking Survey, or developing NAGDCA’s Legislative Priorities, our dedicated committee members volunteer their time to improve the association, and make their mark on the industry.
