Industry Committee – Member-at-Large Applications

NAGDCA is launching a new structure for the Industry Committee designed to create a stronger, more sustainable opportunity for industry members to engage with NAGDCA and help shape the Association’s work.

The Industry Committee represents industry member perspectives, strengthens industry engagement, and provides expertise and recommendations to inform NAGDCA’s programming and strategic decision-making.

New Committee Structure

The Industry Committee will consist of:

  • Three officers: Industry President, Industry Vice President, and Industry Secretary
  • Members-at-large: Appointed by the NAGDCA Executive Board

The officer positions follow a three-year succession model. The Industry Secretary is elected annually by NAGDCA’s industry membership and automatically succeeds to Industry Vice President and then Industry President. The Industry President chairs the committee and serves as a voting member of the NAGDCA Executive Board, while the Industry Vice President serves as a non-voting member of the Executive Board.

Members-at-Large

Members-at-large are appointed by the NAGDCA Executive Board and serve one-year terms, with the opportunity to be reappointed for a maximum of four consecutive years as a member-at-large. Officer service is separate from this four-year limit.

NAGDCA is currently accepting applications for members-at-large to serve on the newly structured committee.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for industry members who:

  • Are committed to improving the industry and strengthening the public sector defined contribution community
  • Are interested in helping NAGDCA move forward at the strategic level
  • Bring a broad range of perspectives and experience from across the industry
  • Are willing to collaborate with fellow industry members, including competitors, partners, and others across the industry
  • Want to actively contribute to NAGDCA’s work throughout the year
Committee Responsibilities

The Industry Committee will help NAGDCA:

  • Strengthen industry membership and engagement by identifying opportunities to enhance the value and experience of NAGDCA’s industry membership and serving as a liaison between NAGDCA and the broader industry community
  • Support sponsorship development by advising on sponsorship structure, benefits, and value and helping identify prospective sponsors and expand industry participation
  • Inform program strategy by providing recommendations on the structure and strategy of NAGDCA’s programming
  • Provide industry insights and strategic guidance by monitoring emerging trends, developments, risks, and opportunities affecting governmental defined contribution plans and the broader retirement industry
Time Commitment

Committee meetings will be scheduled as needed throughout the year and will typically be held virtually. NAGDCA staff will work with the Industry Committee President to coordinate meetings and agendas.

Applicants should be prepared to actively participate in committee discussions and contribute their time and expertise throughout the year.

Eligibility
  • Must be a current NAGDCA industry member.
  • A company may have no more than one representative serving on the Industry Committee.

NAGDCA Committee Charter

Title: Industry Committee

Strategic Goal:

  • Streamline and modernize information for all members
  • Connect the NAGDCA community throughout the year

Purpose: The Industry Committee represents industry member perspectives, strengthens industry engagement, and provides expertise and recommendations to inform NAGDCA’s programming and strategic decision-making.

Composition:

  • Committee Structure: The Industry Committee will consist of three officers, the Industry President, Industry Vice President, and Industry Secretary, as well as members-at-large appointed by the NAGDCA Executive Board.
  • Election and Succession of Officers: The Industry Secretary will be elected annually by NAGDCA’s industry membership through an electronic vote concluding no more than 30 days prior to the Annual Conference. Each company with at least one current NAGDCA industry member will be entitled to one vote.To be eligible for nomination as Industry Secretary, an individual must be a current member of the Industry Committee.The Industry Secretary will automatically succeed to the position of Industry Vice President and then Industry President. The Industry President will chair the Industry Committee and serve as a voting member of the NAGDCA Executive Board. The Industry Vice President will serve as a non-voting member of the Executive Board.
  • Appointment of Members-at-Large: The Executive Board Vice President will recommend new members-at-large to the Executive Board for approval in July or August of each year.
  • Terms: Members-at-large will serve one-year terms and may be reappointed for additional terms, for a maximum of four consecutive years as a member-at-large. Officer service is separate from this four-year limit. Officers will serve three consecutive one-year terms, progressing from Secretary to Vice President to President.
  • Mid-Term Vacancies: If the Industry President resigns or is otherwise unable to complete the term, the Industry Vice President will succeed to the position of Industry President.A vacancy in the office of Industry Vice President or Industry Secretary, including a vacancy resulting from succession to another office, may be filled by appointment of the Executive Board President, in consultation with the Industry President, from among the current members-at-large.Vacancies in members-at-large positions will remain unfilled until the next committee appointment cycle.
  • Company Representation: No company can have more than one representative on the Industry Committee. In the event a company gains two representatives on the Industry Committee due to a member’s change in jobs or through merger/acquisition of companies and neither member voluntarily resigns, the Executive Board will vote on which member will remain on the Industry Committee. The vacancy will be filled following the policy.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  1. Industry Membership and Engagement: Identify opportunities to strengthen the value of NAGDCA industry membership, promote engagement among industry members, and provide recommendations for improving the industry member experience. Serve as a liaison between NAGDCA and the broader industry membership to communicate member perspectives, priorities, and needs.
  2. Sponsorship Development: Advise on the structure, benefits, and value of NAGDCA’s annual sponsorship opportunities. Identify prospective sponsors and support outreach efforts to expand industry participation and sponsorship engagement.
  3. Program Strategy: Provide recommendations to inform the structure and strategy of NAGDCA’s programing.
  4. Industry Insights and Strategic Advisory Support: Monitor and identify emerging trends, developments, risks, and opportunities affecting governmental defined contribution plans and the broader retirement industry. Share relevant industry perspectives and provide periodic insights and recommendations to NAGDCA staff and the Executive Board to support strategic planning, educational priorities, and organizational decision-making.

Meetings: Meetings will be scheduled as needed throughout the year, typically as virtual meetings. NAGDCA staff will assist the President in developing meeting agenda and coordinating committee meetings/calls.

Minutes: NAGDCA staff will prepare and distribute meeting minutes to the committee.
