National Save for Retirement Week 2007 Success Stories

"The past two years, we've seen success in participants increasing their deferral amounts by recording NSRW messaging on the 800 line that participants hear when they call. Call Center Representatives also discuss the importance of NSRW and encourage participants to increase their deferral rate. Onsite DCP Education Consultants also promote the event when meeting with participants."
Ed Wade, New Jersey State Employees DCP

"We decorated the rotunda of City Hall and brought in account representatives from several locations. We put on presentations, had raffles, handed out information, prepared illustrations, there were balloons and food. To promote we used payroll stuffers, the plan's website, posters and the DCP Newsletter. We plan an even bigger celebration in 2008."
Gary Bozin, ING on behalf of City of San Jose, CA

"Had a proclamation signed by the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and did a presentation to the Board. Sent out payroll stuffers and did an article for the Deferred Comp newsletter. Also, vendor sent something out via their newsletter and put something on their website."
Kim Aguiar, County of Tulare

"We had employees sign up for the plan on the spot. Enrollment increased by 41% for the last quarter of the year over the previous quarter."
Gay Lynn Bath, State of Oregon

"In addition to promoting saving for retirement and utilizing the NAGDCA theme, we incorporated information and resources for all aspects of retirement planning. Employees updated their beneficiary designations, increased participation in our retirement programs, learned about money and tax saving tools for different age groups. We added an additional theme: "Retirement Saving...It's a Family Affair"."
Gail Davila, City of Bellevue, WA

"Our Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution proclaiming National Save Retirement Week for the County of Ventura. This made not only our Board aware of National Save for Retirement week, and the importance of saving for retirement but it also made the public who attended or viewed this meeting aware of this event as well."
Patti Price, County of Ventura
