NAGDCA Announces the 2006 Media Recognition Award Winners

(Lexington, KY) - The National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators, Inc. (NAGDCA) is pleased to announce that the winners of 2006 Media Recognition Award are Ruth Helman, Mathew Greenwald and Associates, and Jack VanDerhei, Temple University, for their publication entitled "Will More of Us Work Forever? The 2006 Retirement Confidence Survey".

NAGDCA's Media Recognition Award is awarded to a member of the media for outstanding coverage of pension and retirement issues in newspapers, magazines, national newsletters or research reports. Ms. Helman and Mr. VanDerhei were among some very well qualified and respected authors, but due to their exceptional work on "The 2006 Retirement Confidence Survey", they provided a tool that will assist many individuals in evaluating retirement. The winners, along with all of the 2006 nominees, can be viewed at http://www.nagdca.org/media/2006ma_noms.cfm.

"NAGDCA established the Media Recognition Award in 2001 as a way of recognizing members of the media that do a great job of covering the government defined contribution industry," says Della Williamson, NAGDCA President. "Public sector plans have unique features that are often misunderstood and NAGDCA believes it is important to recognize the efforts of the media to clearly and accurately report our issues."

The 2006 award will be presented at this year's annual conference which is being held September 23 - 27, in Kansas City, MO.

NAGDCA's mission is to unite representatives from state and local governments along with private sector organizations that service and support governmental defined contribution plans. NAGDCA provides an environment to foster growth in professional development of its members through networking with peers, educational opportunities and information sharing that includes comprehensive publications, reports and surveys. NAGDCA will promote and support federal legislative initiatives for the advancement of retirement plans.
