Private Sector Defined Contribution Leaders Meet

(Lexington, KY) - The National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators, Inc. (NAGDCA) held a special roundtable meeting for industry members this week in Washington, D.C. The members gathered to discuss influences on the defined contribution industry such as federal policy direction, regulatory requirements and internal operational practices that affect the programs administered by NAGDCA's public members.

"Because of the important role the private sector plays in the defined contribution industry, NAGDCA felt it was important to bring legislative and operational leaders from our private sector members together to discuss their common issues," said Tony Hines, NAGDCA President and Assistant Director - OFM, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement System.

Specific topics of discussion included the Third Party Administrators Role in Encouraging Participation, Short Term Redemption Fees/Fee Disclosure, Automatic Enrollment and Phased Retirement.

NAGDCA Industry President and Senior Vice President for the Segal Company, Cathie Eitelberg, states "The intent of the roundtable was to provide a forum for Industry Members to discuss, debate and find common ground on administrative and legislative issues of importance. This was one of the first times the NAGDCA industry members have met in this setting and it proved to be a success."

NAGDCA is the country's leading organization of defined contribution retirement plan administrators and financial service providers. It represents nearly every state deferred compensation plan, as well as numerous other governmental and public sector defined contribution plans, and over 105 companies in the financial services industry. Its mission is to advance the public sector defined contribution community to enable government workers to save for a secure retirement.
