On behalf of the Annual Conference Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the 2014 NAGDCA Annual Conference being hosted in San Antonio, TX!  San Antonio is located in the heart of Texas and offers both a vibrant culture and long history. Known for the River Walk in its center, San Antonio is home to 1.3 million people. The four-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs and one of the largest rodeos in the country, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, are also based in San Antonio.

This year's conference will be held at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio, which is located within walking distance of the River Walk. The River Walk offers a wide variety of options for dining, entertainment, and shopping, as well as the most famous attraction in San Antonio, The Alamo.  The hotel’s central location will allow conference attendees to make the most of their trip to San Antonio.

This year's conference theme is ‘Navigating the Waters Toward Retirement Readiness.’  The conference will have many opportunities for continuing education and networking for NAGDCA members. Many of the session topics are ones that were proposed by members from survey responses, and include a blend of new topics as well as ones that have been given in prior years.  The conference committee has worked hard to create an agenda that focuses on retirement readiness and I am very proud of the product they have produced!

I am pleased to announce that this year's keynote speaker is David Laibson, a professor of economics at Harvard University. David is a member of the National Bureau of Economic Research, where he is a Research Associate in the Asset Pricing, Economics Fluctuations, and Aging Working Groups. David’s research focuses on behavioral economics, and he serves on the board of the Health and Retirement Study at the National Institutes of Health, as well as the board of the Pension Research Council.

In addition, I am also proud to announce that Farnoosh Torabi will be our closing speaker.  Farnoosh is a well-known talk show host and journalist, as well as a frequent contributor to Yahoo!, The Today Show, and ABC. She’s written several books on personal finance, and has a focus on helping women and young people make the most of their financial lives.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the other members of the Annual Conference Committee who have spent a great deal of time putting together this conference:

Brenda C. Anderson, Nationwide Retirement Solutions

Cathie Eitelberg, SEGAL/Segal Rogerscasey

Kaci Lantz, State of Tennessee

Carrie Pierce, California Savings Plus Program

Delia Roges, Invesco

Carl Steinhilber, MassMutual Retirement Services

Ben Taylor, Callan Associates

Steve Toole, State of North Carolina

We are extremely excited to offer a conference with high-quality sessions and speakers and hope that you take this opportunity to participate in this conference offered by one of the nation's premiere organizations. We look forward to seeing you this September in San Antonio, Texas!
