September 9, 2010

(Lexington, KY) – The National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA) is honored to have Representative Allyson Y. Schwartz (D-PA) speak at the 2010 NAGDCA Annual Conference during the opening session on Monday, September 13. Schwartz is Vice Chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Committee on Ways & Means where she is an active member on retirement and pension related matters. Schwartz has taken a leadership role regarding the importance of saving for retirement, as well as financial literacy. She has highlighted these issues through her sponsorship of the National Save for Retirement Week Resolution over the last four years. This year's Resolution (H. Res. 1481), introduced by Schwartz and Representative Sam Johnson (R-TX) and passed by the House of Representatives this summer, calls on the week of October 17, 2010 as National Save for Retirement Week.

“With people in the United States living longer and the cost of retirement continuing to rise, Representative Schwartz's work on retirement issues is critical and NAGDCA will present her with a plaque at the Annual Conference to recognize her efforts in this area,” said Ed Lilly, NAGDCA President.

This year's NAGDCA annual conference being held September 11-15, 2010 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania focuses on the theme 'Retirement: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness'.

NAGDCA is the country's leading organization of defined contribution retirement plan administrators and financial service providers. It represents nearly every state deferred compensation plan, as well as numerous other governmental and public sector defined contribution plans, and over 150 companies in the financial services industry. Its mission is to focus on retirement planning for public sector employees participating in 457(b), 403(b), 401(a) and 401(k) retirement plans.
