Resolution introduced in the House to declare “National Save for Retirement Week”
(Lexington, KY) – The National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators, Inc. (NAGDCA) is pleased to announce that a Resolution has been introduced in the House (H. Res. 662) calling on the week of October 18-24, 2009 as National Save for Retirement Week.
The Resolution was introduced by Representative Schwartz, (D-PA) and Representative Sam Johnson (R-TX). A similar Resolution is expected to be introduced in the Senate.
“We are pleased with the support we have received from both the House and Senate on the National Save for Retirement Week Resolution over the past several years. Today's action by Representatives Schwartz and Johnson will help further the goal of educating and urging employees-both public and private-to increase their savings for retirement,” stated Alex Turner, NAGDCA President.
In addition to seeking this critical recognition from the House today, NAGDCA has also been working with the House Ways and Means Committee on an effort to create legislation authorizing a permanent Savings for Retirement month.
