March 12, 2008

(Lexington, KY) - The National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators, Inc. (NAGDCA)'s Executive Board met this week with key congressional staff and Treasury department officials.

During their meetings with key Senate and House offices, congressional tax committee staff, and the Department of the Treasury, the board discussed their support for a Roth 457, enhancing retirement benefits and incentives for savings to all governmental and private sector workers, balanced disclosure of fees, and other important issues. NAGDCA also asked for support for a National Save for Retirement Week resolution. Congress unanimously passed a resolution in 2007 and NAGDCA is working to get a resolution passed again this year.

“As the voice of state and local governmental defined contribution plans, it is important NAGDCA show support for legislation and proposals that further the defined contribution industry and benefit plan participants,” said Mindy Harris, NAGDCA President .

NAGDCA is the country's leading organization of defined contribution retirement plan administrators and financial service providers. It represents nearly every state deferred compensation plan, as well as numerous other governmental and public sector defined contribution plans, and over 150 companies in the financial services industry. Its mission is to focus on retirement planning for public sector employees participating in 457(b), 403(b), 401(a) and 401(k) retirement plans.
